Meet the Owner and Stylist
Hi! My name is Kelli Sowards and my mobile grooming salon, The Debonair Dog, has been in business for more than four years. Before I started this unique pet care business, I have been grooming dogs of virtually all breeds and sizes for more than 10 years, and I can honestly say I am living my dream! This is because I love being able to make dogs look and feel their best.
My precious angel, Madison, was my inspiration for becoming a groomer. With her passing in May 2015, her memory lives on every day when I am able to pamper your pets as if they are my own.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Mobile Grooming?
Mobile grooming is a professional service to meet all of your dog's grooming needs. A self-contained mobile unit arrives curbside at your house to pamper your dog from head to paw. This is a preferred service for many pet owners because of the convenience, whether it is because you're too busy or you prefer not to drive your dog back and forth to the groomer. It's also desirable for the exclusive attention your pooch will receive.
The hitch-on salon is completely equipped. It has a generator for electricity, a water heater that provides the perfect temperature for bathing, and products of the highest quality for your four-legged family member.
Will you need to plug in for power or fill up with water?
The hitch-on salon is equipped with a generator which powers everything I need to groom your pet. I have a 45-gallon freshwater tank that is big enough to carry the water I'll need for the day. Once the water is used, it goes into a separate gray holding tank. The gray water tank will not be emptied at your residence. Only in emergencies will I need to plug in or ask to use your water hose to fill up.
How long does a grooming appointment take?
For a small dog (20 lbs. or less) receiving a bath and haircut and has been kept on a 4-6 weeks schedule, it takes about an hour. Dogs that weigh 20 lbs. or more, those with matted coats, senior dogs, puppies, and those of thick-coated breeds take longer (approx. 1.5-2.5 hours).
Will the bathing water be warm?
Absolutely! The mobile unit is equipped with a water heater.
Can I watch my dog while getting groomed?
It's rather tempting to peek inside to see how Fido is doing, but any distractions are strongly discouraged. Sharp tools are used to style your pet, and any unexpected movements/jerks can result to injuries.
Please do not tap or knock on the window or door unless it's an emergency. Never open the door unless instructed to while a pet is inside. The dog could escape and/or possibly get injured. No pet owners are allowed inside the mobile unit.
